The most important thing when developing an assessment for elearning is to make sure that it relates to the content, and that you are actually assessing the content, not something else. There are a number of different options for the types of questions you can ask. Most elearning programs allow multiple choice and multiple selection (more than one correct answer). Some also allow mix and match, hotspots, drag and drop and correct order. More advanced programs will allow custom questions, if you know how to create them. Some also allow short answer. This can be difficult as the answer can be marked incorrect if it is spelt wrong.
So, there are a number of ways to assess a learner using elearning assessment but the most important thing is always to make the questions relate to the content and not try and trick the learner.
